Hang in there. Don't know which part of the world you are, but the market is especially slow at the moment, One hopes that things will pick up at the 2nd half of the year. Try to play around with routers and switches to keep your knowledge fresh, the cisco commands are very easy to forget if not used or get a good simulator to play around with. Keep apply, send your cv all over the place and be very flexible in terms of location |

Deji, No offence, but how mouch hands on experience do you have? The reason I ask is that you can pass the CCIE wriiten exam and not know your stuff. I happen to read about such people on a couple of CISCO newsgroup, my advice to you is to get a job even if it's CCNA level and get solid hands on experience. If you can buy or borrow some routers/switches, do that and spend some time practicing, but nothing is as good as learning in real life. I passed my written 17 months ago after 5yrs hands on so I have an idea, my company has just fired 2 solid CCIEs also, bro find anything you can do for now, I suspect that it's going to take another year or so for things to pick up again.PEACE! |

Sorry to disappoint you guys, but I personally know about 5 Nigerian CCIEs. Secondly CCIE written is not a certification, it just qualifies you to attempt the lab. I personally think it's about as difficult as the CCNA exam. As far as the guy looking for work, what other skills do you have, I'd advise you to shore up on your voice and security skills, as well as network management if you have the time and resources. In today's IT market, only the very best survive..nuff said |

:D Have you tried to use some of the job search resources on the web e.g. www.monster.com? The economy might be tight at the moment but the I.T industry is still hot if you are really bright. I admire very ambitous people like you and will do anything to help. I earned a B.S degree in Computer Engineering here in the U.S and also have the MCSE. I currently work for a major company here in the U.S as a Software/Systems Engineer. You can email me your resume/cv to ogechi@gbis.com and i will review it and see what i can do for you but you have to be really intelligent. Best Regards, Ogechi |

Bros, have you tried teaching? There may be a space in the teaching profession until the economy improves. You might even like teaching that you may not want to go back to the field.
