Girl, 12, defiled inside church

A Pastor of the Saint Paul’s Catholic Church, Ebute-Meta, Lagos, who defiled a 12- year old girl on the pews of the church has been charged to court.
The Pastor, Chinubi Egbechi, was caught pants down inside the church premises having sex with the minor (names withheld).

According to the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) in-charge of the case, the incident happened about 9.30 p.m on July 11, this year after the congregation had dispersed after service.

The IPO told the Ebute-Meta Chief Magistrate Court that the accused, Pastor Chinubi, had tricked the young girl to stay back after the service for some discussions.

Right there in the house of God, Pastor Chinubi pene-trated the girl and her scream attracted the security men around to the scene, where they found the little girl weeping.

The security men informed the church’s elders about the incident. The elders deeply shocked, immediately called in the police from the Denton Police Station.
The elders were said to have wondered what could have gone wrong with Pastor Egbechi to have decided to desecrate the house of God.

The one count charge against Egbechi reads: “That you,Pastor Egbechi (35) at about 9.30 p.m at the Catholic Church, Ebute-Meta, Lagos, did unlaw-fully defiled one girl (names withheld) by having unlawful carnal knowledge of her and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 216 of the criminal code.”
He pleaded not guilty to the charge and the chief magistrate granted him bail in the sum of N20,000 and one surely in the same amount.
